For the people of Benicàssim, the Moscatel grape is a symbol of our agricultural tradition, a variety historically cultivated and prized for its aromatic qualities and sweet flavor.
In addition to being an excellent table grape, it is used to produce sweet Moscatel wine a perfect accompaniment to desserts and sweets as well as, historically, sparkling wine and Moscatel Cognac.
Our variety (Moscatel de Alexandria) is primarily characterized by its aroma and its brilliant color, which ranges from straw-yellow to dark amber.
For many years, the Moscatel grape was the primary driver of our local economy and one of the most traditional and highly valued products of our agriculture.
The pioneers who introduced Moscatel de Benicàssim to the international stage and the first entity to market it were the Carmelite Fathers of the Desierto de Las Palmas Monastery, who, in 1912, began selling the first bottles of “Moscatel Carmelitano” distributing them throughout Spain and France.
The land upon which Hotel Montreal stands was, for many generations, a vineyard of Muscat grapes, cultivated by our family.
The word for “GRAPE” (UVA) in Valencian is *RAIM*; for us, it represents a tribute to the tradition, dedication, and hard work of several generations of our family.
What better TRIBUTE to our FAMILY than to name the service in this room “RAÍM”?
